Find a Scoliosis Doctor and Specialist

Adult scoliosis care requires more than measuring a curve on a single image. A Mountain Spine & Orthopedics scoliosis doctor evaluates spinal balance, curve pattern, nerve symptoms, bone health, and the activities that matter to you. Our specialists review both non-surgical and surgical options across Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, with same-day callbacks and prompt appointment access for new and existing patients.

When to see a specialist

A scoliosis-focused evaluation can clarify whether symptoms come from the curve itself, degeneration around it, nerve compression, or a separate pain source.

  • A visible change in posture, shoulder height, waistline, or trunk balance
  • Back pain that increases with standing or walking
  • Leg pain, numbness, weakness, or reduced walking tolerance
  • A known curve that appears to be progressing in adulthood
  • Difficulty standing upright or increasing fatigue from spinal imbalance
  • A recommendation for deformity surgery that you want reviewed

Scoliosis is assessed by how vertebrae like this one tilt and rotate as they stack — which is why imaging review matters.

What happens at your first appointment

The first visit defines how the curve affects alignment, nerves, daily function, and treatment decisions rather than relying on the curve angle alone.

01 History and function

Your doctor reviews the curve history, pain pattern, walking and standing tolerance, prior treatment, bone health, and changes you have noticed.

02 Alignment examination

Posture, shoulder and pelvic balance, gait, flexibility, strength, sensation, and reflexes are assessed for mechanical and neurological effects.

03 Standing imaging review

Standing full-length X-rays, when available, are used to evaluate overall balance. MRI or CT may be reviewed when nerve compression or surgical planning is relevant.

04 Prioritized plan

The specialist explains which findings matter now, what can be monitored, and when targeted symptom care or reconstructive surgery deserves consideration.

Your treatment pathway

Non-surgical care

  • Activity modification based on symptom triggers
  • Medication and pain-management review
  • Targeted injections for a confirmed pain source
  • Curve and symptom monitoring with repeat standing imaging when clinically indicated

Surgical care

  • Decompression for selected nerve compression
  • Alignment correction when imbalance is disabling
  • Instrumented spinal fusion when stabilization is required
